The wire floor has .5 x 1-inch spacing and features a slide-out plastic-lined tray for simple clean-up. Access this hutch via the hinged roof, or via the Hop-Out door, which is made from solid wood and doubles as a ramp. The intense preservative odor knocks you out at first, so air it out before putting an animal in it. I don't like cages already, so I only use it when I need to sequester my bunny for other reasons (cleaning the rugs, etc.). [...] The external box was intact but a hole had been punched in the corner of the tray, I think by the leg of one of the side panels (it was about that same size). Hayneedle had the manufacturer ship out a replacement right away, which I appreciated very much. The main problem, bigger than the tray, was that the back was warped, so I had to finagle it together. I had previously put together a medium sized hutch of this brand and it all fit together fine.

The "tray" under the wire is SO shallow that it only allows for a thin, thin layer of litter. When it is time to clean the tray there is NO easy way to do it! You can either pull up the grate and clean or slide out from the back, which I do NOT recommend as the spillage [and there WILL be spillage] goes everywhere..also my bunny ate all the soft {yes, soft wood} that he could find inside the cage! Wish I had this whole thing to do over :(

I love the design and the door. My biggest complaint is on the material of the wood- not the strongest and ill probably have to give it some more screws in it eventually. Oh well...it was well worth the price. Great value! Especially the roof... Good stuff.

I think the concept is good. we got the large one and our new mini lop loves hopping back and forth. It was damaged during shipping. There is a hole in the black plastic that holds the bedding material. The roof was extremely warped, but w/my husbands help we were able to get the screws in, but now there is always a little crack at the top. We haven't had her out in the rain yet. Since she is tiny, she is still in the garage. We didn't want to hassle with shipping it back so we just said, I guess it is good enough.

Parts were broken but repairable. Hard to put together due to lousy instructions. Is big tho and looks nice.

Q1: Is this hutch suitable for a guinea pig?
A: If you want to use for a guinea pig - you must cover up the bottom of the hutch because the wire mesh bottom will hurt the guinea pig's feet. The ramp may be a bit steep but otherwise - it can work.
