Description

The Ware Premium Plus Hutch is built to withstand the elements, giving your precious pets a safe home. Constructed from durable exterior-grade plywood, this hutch is finished in a weatherproof non-toxic stain and features an asphalt-shingled roof, plus a door made from galvanized wire with 1-inch spacing. The wire floor has .5 x 1-inch spacing and features a slide-out plastic-lined tray for simple clean-up. Access this hutch via the hinged roof, or via the Hop-Out door, which is made from solid wood and doubles as a ramp. Inside the Hop-Out door is an enclosed "den" complete with solid wood floor to help your pet feel safe. This hutch assembles in minutes with just a screwdriver and is available in your choice of sizes.

Tray had a hole when box opened

The intense preservative odor knocks you out at first, so air it out before putting an animal in it. I don't like cages already, so I only use it when I need to sequester my bunny for other reasons (cleaning the rugs, etc.). [...] The external box was intact but a hole had been punched in the corner of the tray, I think by the leg of one of the side panels (it was about that same size). Hayneedle had the manufacturer ship out a replacement right away, which I appreciated very much. The main problem, bigger than the tray, was that the back was warped, so I had to finagle it together. I had previously put together a medium sized hutch of this brand and it all fit together fine.

The "tray" under the wire is SO shallow that it only allows for a thin, thin layer of litter. When it is time to clean the tray there is NO easy way to do it! You can either pull up the grate and clean or slide out from the back, which I do NOT recommend as the spillage [and there WILL be spillage] goes everywhere..also my bunny ate all the soft {yes, soft wood} that he could find inside the cage! Wish I had this whole thing to do over :(

        This Hutch is perfect for small rabbits under 9 lbs. We did not know how big our rabbit will be or weigh in at. Nikki is big and weighs 17 lbs. The cage holds her well for sleep. No room for her to play in plus we had to cut the hole abit bigger to allow her to get to the door. The hutch it self has lasted for 3 years now. The bottom catch pan is cracked from using a grid for Nikki to stand on. We need to order the catch pan because of the cracks. Cleaning is easy with the hose for the bottom pan and I use a steamer to clean the walls and any hidden areas. This will take care of the spiders or any other insects.

        Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

        Q1: Is this hutch suitable for a guinea pig?

        A: If you want to use for a guinea pig - you must cover up the bottom of the hutch because the wire mesh bottom will hurt the guinea pig's feet. The ramp may be a bit steep but otherwise - it can work.
