Heater is weakly tacked on bottom, came off in days. Rubber strip degrades fast, lasted only months. Bowl itself is shaped awesome and well made, heating and rubber very cheap.

This bowl is huge, which is great you don't have to check it as often. Also the heater only works below 40 degrees so it cost less on your elcetric bill.

This is the best investment I have ever made for my outside dog. I used to have to go out with a hammer and beat the ice in my dogs bowl just to be able to pour more water for him to drink right away. Now all I have to do is keep the bowl clean and full. It is wonderful. Not a single piece of ice has been in it. The water is always available for the dog to get. Great bowl for happy dogs.

For some odd reason, our dog will only drink water on our back deck. This becomes a problem when winter temps hit. This year I decided to get her a heated dog dish, so she would be happy all winter long. The water is unfrozen but not hot after a cold night.
One other aspect that I like about this dish is its size. 5 quarts is a lot and keeps me from having to fill it often.
