I have no idea why some items are packed with enough styrofoam to float a ship, then something like this is shipped without one piece of foam to protect it. It was crinkled, cracked, and busted up. It took some modification to fix it, before assembling. Instructions are lame, but comes together fairly easy. The picture on the box makes more sense than the directions, and the wing nuts were asinine. My intent is to use inside my garage as a quarantine for a sick chicken, or as a brooder. In that application, it is suitable. As an outdoor piece, exposed to the elements of summer heat and cold wet season, I can't see it lasting much over a year, unless it's sheltered (like under a tarp.) It will warp, crack and fail through a season of weather changes.....It already was out of the box. Cheap material. The poop pan, while dented up pretty good upon arrival, is a great feature, especially if you use in a garage or on a patio. Lastly, there is no way 6 chickens can roost in this pen. That would require an additional pole, or 2x4, and some equally spaced modification. Even then, it would be tight.

I have 3 chickens. They sleep every night in the coop. The tray is easy to clean. I bought feeders and waterer that would hang on the side. When it rained, it would blow into the coop, so I put my coop under a 6' X 6' canopy that I got from Dick's. I also put a tarp over the whole thing to protect the sides. It all works great. My chickens are happy. I have a separate "house" for nesting in the yard because my chickens spend the day outside of the coop. I love it and have no need for something fancier.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The overall look of the product is similar to the picture, but the stain is kind of spotty in places. Very easy to set up. Screws are a little too long. I don't know why they used "wing nuts" instead of a standard lock nut. Maybe they don't believe in them in [*].The fit and finish is not bad, but the tray ledges take a little "jimmying" to fit to the pre-drilled slots.Their were broken pieces of wood, some smaller and some slightly larger. Looked and smelled like it might have been used for [*]Chickens before being shipped here. Not sure that product was new.The give away for that is that the hinges to the top were in pretty bad shape. Only two of the screws "caught" the opposing side lock nut correctly. The other two popped out and refused to go back in. Overall, I likely would not buy this product again, nor would I recommend it.

kinda small for four chickens and to keep fly down needs cleaning regularly.
