Very cute coop! It arrived quickly and I was excited to put it together. It came in great condition, it smelled good, and was a cinch to build. The pieces fit well together, the metal is strong and the wood is lightweight. The sliding poop tray is easy to remove and clean up (we use sand in ours, it makes it very easy to clean up with a kitty litter scoop and also keeps it cooler in our hot weather. The coop has primer already applied so painting it was a snap (I still did 3 coats, but probably could have gotten away with 2). We needed to cut about 2.5 inches of the right side of the run and the roof to make it fit in the space we allotted. It was easy to disassemble the preassembled sides, cut them to our needed length, and then reassemble. The coop area is very small. We have 3 hens and that's good because this coop would probably only fit 2 comfortably and 3 hens cozily, not 4 like is advertised for sure! Our hens are free ranging throughout the day and will only be in the coop to sleep. If they are going to be in there for any more time than that then the coop is way too small. The nesting box takes up 1/4 of the floor so I did not put it in the coop, I am going to make a separate nesting box outside of the coop. I added in a roosting bar that spans the length of the coop using a 2x4 and 4x4 bracket holders so that the roost would be removable to clean or replace. The included bar (really just the handle of the nesting box) is too small, sharp-edged, and really is lousy since it is only big enough for 1 hen to use at a time! The "run" is very short height-wise under the coop and will not due for chickens to stay penned into all day, but it does keep the coop elevated which will help deter insects and mites. We added the scalloped trim to the roof and I painted the "x" on the door to make it look like a mini barn. All in all I am pleased with the coop, but would strongly recommend getting a much larger model for anything over 3 hens, and would not recommend keeping them in this small space longer than overnight. It was delivered quickly, and very easy to assemble but there are some serious design flaws in this product. There is no door on the entry to the nesting section, so there is no protection from invading predators at night, and no protection from our sub-zero frigid temperatures. I had to rig up my own way of installing a door. Also the description says it has one roosting bar. However what is considered a roosting bar is actually the top slat of the nest box, which is impossible for them to roost on as it is up against the wall, and even if you put it in the center of the nesting area, which would leave no room for anything else, it would hold only one bird, would easily tip over when a birds landed on it, and they would be pooping directly into the nest box itself. I also had to improvise and build an actual roosting bar inside for them as it is very important for them to be able to roost at night. Also the access door into the nesting section is extremly small and inadequate, so it makes catching a bird, finding eggs and reaching them, or cleaning almost impossible. It needs roof acces like some of the other coops have. I actually had to leave the small part of the roof unattached so I could lift it off to obtain adequate access to the nesting area. If the design were improved it would be a great coop for a few birds.
